Harry Hands Over Local Cash for
Terror Attack Fund
The president of a New York fund for victims of the Twin Towers attack has thanked locals with big appetites and even bigger hearts.
Management, Staff and Customers at Four in One fast food outlets in Polmont, Linlithgow, Stenhousemuir, Rumford, Alloa, Denny, Bathgate, Bo'ness and Bannockburn dug deep for a special Twin Towers Appeal. Harry was in America on September 11th and was due to travel to New York that day - so the tragedy struck a specially strong chord with him.
A week after the terrorist attacks, he caught a flight home and launched a Twin Towers Appeal Fund at his nine take-outs across the central belt.
And hungry diners in Linlithgow and Bo'ness proved the most generous - with the towns topping the fundraising league. Linlithgow customers raised £763 with Bo'neww a close second on £643.
Harry personally handed the bumper cheque - tallying $12,000 (dollars) to Appeal Fund president Larry Levy at a special reception in Manhattan. The company also footed the £2,500 bill to send Harry and son Amrit. It is a moment which will long be seared on the Falkirk businessman's mind. |
